A stay at Watergate Bay

The sun was shining over the North Cornwall coast when Olive and I popped down to Watergate Bay Hotel for a weekend full of eating well and seaside strolls.

The ocean is never far away when staying at the Watergate Bay Hotel, set on one of Conwalls beautiful surfing beaches where the impressive rugged costal line provides an impressive backdrop to your stay.

The hotel itself is incredibly lovely and so very welcoming, from the contemporary yet relaxed Cornish seaside interior to the ‘all dogs are welcome’ policy allowing you to never be far away from your furry friend. Theo the cockapoo very much enjoyed his sea view!

Olive and I couldn’t wait to check out our room and we were far from disappointed, the rooms are everything you would want from a boutique hotel by the sea and more. Designed with one of our favourite grey and yellow colour combination and with a smattering of contemporary beach hut charm.

We spent our days exploring the beach with Theo the cockapoo in tow while capturing the last of the summer rays and playing a good old game of bat and ball. Once Theo had sufficiently jumped in every rock pool possible we retired to comfy seats and large mugs of tea on the outside terrace.

As always food is a massive part of any visit and its safe to say we were spoilt for choice. During our short break we managed to sample a delicious sharing board on the terrace, a top notch Italian meal at Jaimie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant, finished of with crab linguini at the beach hut located right on the beach front. We could happily of stayed for an extra couple of days just to eat our way around the various menus! Luckily for us Watergate Bay Hotel have provided recipes on their website for some of their favourite dishes and I am looking forward to re creating their legendary breakfast waffles one lazy Sunday morning.

Another one of our highlights was the incredible infinity pool that has the most amazing pan aroma view across the bay, we went for a quick dip before dinner just when the sun was starting to set over the sea- pure bliss! There is also a outside hot tub overlooking the entire beach, which would be the perfect chill out spot with perhaps a glass of procesco in hand.

Our short stay went by in a bit of waffle induced blur, sunny beach strolls, the loveliest fresh Cornish food and lots of chilled time either spent enjoying the view from the pool or from the terrace with a cocktail in hand. We cannot recommend this lovely hotel enough- thank you for such a wonderful stay!
