We have just come back from spending 5 days at one of the most amazing, happiest and joyful places on earth- Glastonbury festival! After having THE best time enjoying the music and sunshine we have also been super inspired by Glastonbury amazing green credentials.
This year they successfully banned single use plastic for the first time even saving a reported 2 million plastic bottles from going into landfill. We think this is pretty impressive and as well as this Glastonbury also encouraged people to take all of their belongings home with them at the end of the 5 days. We just love this image shared by Emily Eavis showing that a record breaking 99.3% of all tents were taken home which is truly amazing!
As Glastonbury tends to mark the start of the summer festival season we thought there was no better time than to share our super easy eco friendly festival packing guide with you to try and make your festival experience as sustainable as possible.
Yes! It does exist! We LOVE biodegradable glitter it is still super sparkly and no where near as harmful to the environment, what’s not to like?! There are some pretty fab colour ways to choose from, Etsy has a pretty great selection as well as Festival glitter who also stock water based uv paint too. We also love Bristol based company Eco stardust.
Reusable Water Bottles
Reusable water bottles are super handy, I rarely go a day without one! Having one not only saves money but cuts down your plastic usage too. There are so many different bottles to choose from now, however our favourites will always be from Californian based brand Swell. Their range of water-bottles are made from triple walled stainless steel that not only keeps liquids cool for 24 hours it also keeps them hot for 12 hours, which is pretty amazing we think! They also have lots of designs to choose from as well as different shapes and sizes for your everyday needs.
Biodegradable Wet Wipes
Anyone who is a regular festival goer will know that wet wipes are the ultimate packing essential. However to avoid these ending up in the oceans opt for biodegradable options instead that will break down naturally after disposal. We took these Cucumber biodegradable wet wipes with us to Glastonbury and they were perfect for removing those endless layers of glitter and freshening up in between sets.
Plastic straws are one of the worst offenders for contributing to the worlds plastic crisis and therefore reusable straws have recently become the go to option for any event/ night out. With a wide range of metal straws and foldable straws available you’ll be spoilt for choice. We love these multi coloured metal straws from Etsy which are perfect for any festival.
At some point during the festival you make want a quick re fresh in the showers and rather than bringing mini shower gel in a plastic bottle why not opt for a bar of natural soap instead. The All natural soap company have a lovely range of 100% natural soaps including this one using precious rose geranium oil that not oil smells amazing it leaves your skin feeling super soft too.
