Its official Capri in Italy has become one of our favourite islands in the world! This picturesque island is located just of the Sorrento coast and is the perfect destination for a weekend escape. Italians have been holidaying here for years to enjoy the crystal blue ocean views, delicious Italian food and strolling through the historic towns.
One of the first things we did once we had arrived was jump straight on a boat tour that takes you around the island to visit all of the amazing caves and grottos that Capri has to offer. It was such a great way to get a feel for the Island and to take it the breath taking scenery.
Our boat tour did stop of at the Blue Grotto, Capri’s most famous attraction but unfortunately there was already a 2 hour wait to get into a Grotto so we had to give it a miss this time. If you do get the chance it definitely looks worth visiting the sparkling cavern which is lit up by a bright Azure blue light but make sure to get there early!
Once back on dry land we headed up to Capri town which is nestled high up in the islands mountains and is full of beautiful cobbled streets leading off to private terraces, cafes with a view and the most amazing selection of designer shops you have ever seen. The stores on Capri definitely give 5th Avenue a run for its money!
Once we had drooled all over the fabulous clothes we took a stroll down to Augustus Gardens , costing only 1 euro in entrance the gardens are a lovely place to get some shade from the mid day sun and take in the beautiful scenery of the island.
We couldn’t resist stopping at the bar next door which had an open terrace overlooking the crystal blue water of Capri and where we enjoyed a refreshing frozen Italian drink called ‘Semifreddo’ perfect when in the heat!
Strolling through the village with a gelato in hand is the perfect way to spend the rest of your afternoon, taking in all of the lovely buildings which house some of the best hotels in Italy and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
