It’s official lavender season and what better way to spend these summer months than strolling through a sea purple. Last Sunday Blanch and I did exactly that at the lovely Lavender Farm in Somerset. Located just outside Tavistock, the farm has over 5 acres of lavender with 20 different varieties. A huge 50,000 lavender plants make up these beautiful fields that are the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday strolling through.
The amazing scent of lavender hits you from the moment you step outside the car, Blanch and I spent a good hour or so strolling round and admiring the endless sea of purple!
Somerset Lavender use lavender in almost everything they do, we had a delicious lavender themed lunch with a goats cheese and lavender quiche which was amazing and a sweet lavender lemonade. Followed by lavender cake and we couldn’t resist trying the lavender ice cream too! There is a sweet shop next to the cafe selling naturally distilled lavender oil homemade on the farm as well as natural body products and dried lavender.
It was a lovely way to spend a chilled Sunday in the county, strolling through the lavender and sampling all of the delicious lavender theamed products! Lavender season in the U.K. is from June through to August so if you have a free weekend coming up I would definitely recommend visiting your local lavender fields to take in the sea of purple and amazing smell!
