Summer is finally here in the U.K. with long warm evening and weekends spent lazing in the park enjoying a summer pimms or two! There are many ways you can bring a bit of that summer sunshine into your home too, just by packing away the many throw blankets to be replaced with lighter fabrics and pastel shades. With more and more people choosing to staycation this year than ever before, there are a couple of really simple changes that you can make to your home to bring on those holiday vibes.
One of the easiest and most effective way to make your home feel summer ready is swapping out heavy, knitted fabric for lighter ones in brighter and bolder patterns. There are some fab geometric patterns on the high street at the moment, look at investing in a great cotton throw that can double up as a picnic blanket.
Gelato colours are a key trend this summer and the ice cream lovers that we are we can definitely get on board with this! Try introducing a couple of pastel hued accessories in the form of table wear, vases or soft furnishings.
Greenery is another great way of bringing the outside in and there is some amazing plant inspiration on Pinterest at the moment as well as some fab books like . Pick up a couple of potted palms from your local plant store and watch how they bring your interiors to life.
Olive and I love the power of scent and how it can of transform a space almost straight away, for summer we love the citrus scents of grapefruit and lemon combined with Mediterranean herbs. These fresh smells always take us back to sipping on an ice cold beer while sat on a sunny verander in Greece.
Textiles have always been our first love and for summer we are obsessing over macrame, fringing and tassels! Introduce these fabrications in soft, light shades to add a homely, handmade feel to each room. As we love macrame so much we have recently opened a Etsy store selling beautiful tactile cushions covered in tassels and fringing, the perfect accessory to re create this boho chic look.
Another one of our favourite looks this summer is Ombré as it is so versatile and there are some amazing finds on the high street from rugs to cushions and fabrics to bedding. Our personal favourite is the painterly watercolour style that you can find on lampshades, artwork and small accessories. This trend particularly suits pastel shades and goes perfectly with green palms and soft macrame furnishings to bring the whole look together.
